Duncruin Street Hillside Community Group BBQ - 5th April

April 4, 2017

The Duncruin Street Hillside Community Group, in the Maryhill area of Glasgow,  is holding a BBQ this Wednesday 630-8pm to celebrate the lighting of the hillside.

The hillside has been long neglected due to its ownership  being unclear following stock transfer of housing from Glasgow City Council to housing associations.

The group has taken hundreds of bags of litter and about a half dozen cages of overgrown vegetation off the hillside. They estimate there are still about a 1000 bags to go!

Current plans include the installation of two community stadiums and a doggie park.  On the North facing side, there are two playing fields that sit half way down the hill with the most spectacular view of Dungoyne.  The group aspires to make each of these into a community stadium using the upper half of the hillside for spectators.   It would like to fence of the bottom half of the wester side of the hill to make a safe place for dogs to run around - Glasgow needs more doggie parks!

If you are free, why not pop along on Wednesday 6:30-8pm for a BBQ and to see what Duncruin Street Hillside Community Group is doing .  The group had four BBQs last year and hopes to have more this year, so if you can't make this Wednesday, drop them a line and they'll keep you posted on developments.
