February 16, 2017
The Scottish Government has published the draft guidance for the Participation Request part of the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act.
Participation requests, as legislated for in the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act, are a new way for community groups to start a dialogue with public bodies about improving how services are delivered. The draft guidance for partipation requests is out now and goes through the things communities and public bodies need to think about as well as the process itself.
The Scottish Government has been developing the revised regulations and working with a stakeholder group to write the guidance for public service authorities and community participation bodies. Government expect the regulations to be laid in early 2017 and for the provisions to come into force following the parliamentary process on or around the 1 April 2017.
You can read the current draft Guidance for community participation bodies and public service authorities. It is not expected that the guidance will change significantly from this point but the Scottish Government welcome your comments and questions. You can email them at firstname.lastname@example.org.
