Get your share of support through CLD guidance
December 10, 2020
A new piece of guidance may be useful for community groups across Scotland to make their voice heard in planning what support is available for groups locally.
The guidance, published in early December 2020, adds to the The Requirements for Community Learning and Development (Scotland) Regulations 2013 (legislation.gov.uk). This legislation placed a duty on local authorities to work with relevant community groups to identify community learning and development (CLD) needs and plan how to meet these needs. The new guidance emphasises a collaborative approach and refers to the changed environment due to Covid-19. It also attempts to make stronger links between the CLD guidance and the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015.
CLD may not be a term that is familiar to everyone, so here's a definition from the CLD Standards Council for Scotland
CLD is a field of professional practice that enables people to identify their own individual and collective goals, to engage in learning and take action to bring about change for themselves and their communities.
