Improve your street through Pocket Places
March 10, 2020
Community organisations can apply for up to £20,000 to improve the look and feel of their streets and make them safer.
Pocket Places is funded by Transport Scotland and delivered by Sustrans Scotland who expect to fund four Pocket Places projects in 2020. They offer the help of a design team to help design and implement improvements to local streets.
It will be up to residents, local councils, businesses and community members to decide together what will happen in their area. Changes could be temporary or semi-permanent. They could include one-off events such as street closure or pop-up parks. Longer-term solutions are also being trialled including benches, planters, crossings or artworks. And, there is always the option for the changes to be made permanent.
How can you apply?
Pocket Places is open for expressions of interest all year round. Applications are typically processed three times a year in March, July and November. The deadline for applying to the next round of Pocket Places is 31 March 2020. The projects selected in this round are expected to begin in June 2020.
