Inverclyde Community Conference - 7 September 2018
August 29, 2018
CVS Inverclyde’s third sector conference, Aspiring Communities, will take place at the Beacon Arts Centre, Greenock, on Friday 7 September, 9am to 2pm.
Delegates will hear from Inverclyde Council on plans to distribute money through a participatory budgeting process which will see local community groups given the opportunity to propose ideas about how to spend the money. Compassionate Inverclyde will also take delegates through the progress of the initiative, a citizen led collaboration that is transforming societal attitudes and behaviours around loneliness, isolation, death, dying and bereavement.
The conference includes opportunities to network, stalls and a series of workshops – there will be tips for funding bids from the Big Lottery Fund, a Democracy Matters community engagement session and Belville Community Garden will look at how it can support the local community towards a more sustainable future. Benefits of the new www.volunteerinverclyde.com portal will also be featured, along with what makes a good volunteering opportunity for young people.
