South Lanarkshire workshop on Community Empowerment Act
March 27, 2017
The Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act is starting to come into effect, with most of the regulations and guidance now finalised.
This free workshop for community organisations is a chance to find out what the Act contains and how to make use of it in order to do the sorts of things you want to do as a community. The main focus will be on how community organisations can use 'participation requests' to start a dialogue with public bodies about things that matter to them. The workshop will also introduce you to:
- New opportunities to be part of community planning processes in your local area.
- Provisions around asset transfer and community right to buy
- Other parts of the Act such as changes to National Outcomes and duties for local authorities around community food growing.
The workshop will take place on Mon 24 April 2017, 13:00 - 16:00 at Voluntary Action South Lanarkshire, 155 Montrose crescent, Hamilton, ML3 6LQ (View Map).
