Village SOS in Scotland
April 2, 2015
A new Big Lottery funded Village SOS programme has been launched in Scotland, with the aim of helping rural communities successfully develop, fund and implement projects which strengthen their community.
The focus of the programme in Scotland is on helping communities who want to take forward a project or enterprise to get support from communities who have already been through this experience, with additional technical support provided as necessary. Rocket Science is leading the project’s delivery in Scotland with support from Senscot, Forth Sector and Rose Regeneration.
Become a member……Anyone with an interest in enterprising rural community action can become a member of the campaign. Whether you’ve got experience to share, or want to learn from others please sign-up now to find out more, or by contacting Clare Hammond or on 01312264949.
Become a supported community……If you have a project, potential project and/or an organisation that provides a service to your local rural community with a population of fewer than 10,000 then you may be eligible for assistance through Village SOS.
Become a mentor…… if you are keen to support a community through the development and/or delivery of their project and have experience in the delivery of successful community based projects. Further information on the role description is available by contacting Clare Hammond at Rocket Science. Mentors will need to complete one day of free training. There are currently two training days for mentors to choose from in Scotland: Glasgow on the 29th April or Inverness on the 30th April.
