Disclosure Scotland pledges to:

Challenge ourselves to increase the positive impact we make on our local community and make better use of our assets – our buildings/grounds and our people.

In the next six months we will do at least three things that we don’t do at the moment to improve our social impact.

Signed, Signature of Chief ExecutiveLorna Gibbs, Chief Executive, March 2017.

1st Commitment

Disclosure Scotland will commit to supporting opportunities to enable  staff members to work with and in local communities, by working with Starter Packs Glasgow, fundraising, and campaigning to collect items for donation, such as: crockery, kitchen utensils, bed linen, clothes, electrical items, furniture and general household goods. We will also encourage staff members to engage in skills-based volunteering, by working in Starter Packs HQ or in one of their charity shops.

2nd Commitment

We will continue to develop and expand our corporate volunteering activities in the coming year, combining staff member’s social events with fundraising opportunities for local charities, such as our successful MacMillan Coffee Morning event. We will develop a schedule of seasonal fundraising events, starting with a Pancake Tuesday fundraiser, which will initiate our campaign to collect items for Starter Packs Glasgow. We will utilise these fundraising events to encourage staff members to learn about opportunities to engage in Disclosure Scotland’s local partnerships and to inspire a culture of continuous community engagement throughout the organisation.

3rd Commitment

This initiative makes contact with Govan High School and Bellahouston Academy to develop closer links, through our Compliance Team’s delivery of presentations to pupils, to discuss Disclosure Scotland’s role and to highlight the potential future impact of pupil’s current actions and behaviours within the context of areas facing acute social deprivation. As an outreach initiative, we will encourage current Modern Apprentices to visit the schools to promote the Scottish Government  Modern Apprenticeship programme and illustrate the variety of roles available within Disclosure Scotland.
