Amina Muslim Women's Resource Centre
Amina Muslim Women’s Resource Centre works with mainstream agencies and policy makers to enhance their understanding of the Muslim community and of barriers that prevent Muslim women from accessing services and participating in society.
They provide a range of services to Muslim women, including counselling and befriending services, short breaks for carers, skills and capacity building services and running a cultural and faith-sensitive Scotland-wide helpline.
They also campaign against negative stereotypes and violence against women, including ‘I Speak for Myself’, a national campaign that empowers Muslim women to share their personal messages with fellow Scots, in order to challenge damaging stereotypes.
Amina Muslim Women’s Resource Centre work to ensure that Muslim women from all backgrounds are given the advice and support they need to enable them to live better and safer lives, free from discrimination and abuse. They work to ensure that these women are confident to raise issues that are important to them and to their lives.
