The Concrete Garden - Glasgow
'When communities grow gardens, gardens grow communities'
Concrete Garden is an urban community food growing and creative waste reduction project providing growing space, activities, and events for the people of Possilpark and the wider North Glasgow area.
The project works with the local community to increase food growing, composting and creative waste reduction activities. By working alongside local people, the Concrete Garden aims to create a healthier, happier Possil by creating opportunities to grow, work, socialise, play and learn together.
Activities include weekly Social Gardening sessions, volunteer action days and cookery projects. There are also seasonal events and celebrations such as the Concrete Garden’s Spring Open Day, Harvest Festival and Soup Off. In November 2014, the project opened ‘The Back Garden’, a new community growing site on nearby derelict land.
