Lanarkshire Community Food and Health Partnership
LCFHP is a long established registered Scottish charity which has been working throughout North Lanarkshire for the past 22 years tackling health inequalities related to food access and healthy eating. It does this by selling high quality, fresh produce at low cost to individuals, families and community groups, and by promoting access to a healthy diet through the establishment of community food interventions.
The organisation runs and supplies more than 40 community food co-ops across North Lanarkshire where people can access high quality food as well as pick up healthy cooking advice in their local area. In addition, on-going support in the form of training and education is provided. For example more than 8000 people have attended LCFHP’s nutrition and cooking skills classes.
The organisation is supported by North Lanarkshire Partnership, North Lanarkshire Council, NHS Lanarkshire and the Scottish Governments Enterprise Growth Fund. In order to support its charitable aims, the organisation also has various social enterprise activities, including selling produce to local businesses and training and learning sessions.
