This Cumbernauld group was set up seven years ago as a depression support group after one of its founders experienced a lack of support in the area. Many of Now You’re Talking's team of staff, volunteers and college placements have real experience of the issues experienced by service users.
The project links with other organisations to alleviate loneliness and anxiety through a variety of activities.
Now You're Talking uses a peer support model to build the confidence of service users. The support changes depending on the service user but they involve self-development programmes and encourage self-expression through participation in arts, music and drama.
Starting from zero, NYT has become a charity and has continued to grow despite having to move locations. It has helped hundreds of people into college, employment and self-employment. Furthermore, the group has established a social enterprise providing training services.
